At Crane Aerospace & Electronics, this machinist plays a critical role in producing precision aerospace components used in braking and actuation systems installed on aircraft worldwide. These are high-reliability parts where precision, consistency, and craftsmanship directly impact passenger and military safety.
The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Set up and operate 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and manufacturing instructions
- Load, run, and edit CNC programs at the machine
- Select tooling, set offsets, and verify workholding
- Validate raw materials prior to machining
- Monitor machining operations and detect issues such as tool wear or vibration
- Replace worn tooling and adjust feeds/speeds as needed
- Hold tight aerospace tolerances and verify dimensions
- Perform first-article and in-process inspections
- Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other precision instruments
- Apply GD&T standards to ensure conformance
- Troubleshoot machining issues and maintain quality documentation
- Communicate shift-to-shift status updates to maintain production continuity

What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 2+ years of CNC milling experience
- Experience with 4- or 5-axis CNC mills
- Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T
- Strong understanding of tooling, offsets, and setup procedures
- Experience using precision inspection equipment
- Ability to detect machining irregularities (tool wear, vibration, sound changes)
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
- U.S. Person (ITAR requirement)
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with Mazak, Fadal, or Toyoda machines
- Experience with Mazatrol or Fanuc controls
- Understanding of G-Code editing
- Aerospace manufacturing experience
- Strong math, geometry, and trigonometry skills

Pay, Benefits & Schedule
Pay Range:
$28.00 – $46.50 per hour (DOE)
Pay Notes:
- Level II typically falls in the mid-range
- Level III at the upper range based on advanced setup and troubleshooting ability
- Overtime paid per state and federal guidelines
