What you will be doing

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machine tools and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-system problems, diagnosing faults using alarms, error codes, schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Troubleshoot machine controls, sensors, switches, motors, drives, servos, and other electrical components, including CNC controls and machine communication issues.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments such as bearings, belts, couplings, lubrication systems, and pumps, and troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems including valves, cylinders, regulators, and pumps.
  • Perform machine setup, alignment, leveling, and adjustments as needed to maintain equipment performance and accuracy.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and document work performed in the company's maintenance system.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with machine operators and production personnel to identify problems and determine corrective action.
  • Assist Engineering and Production with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and process improvements, and recommend solutions to recurring equipment failures to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and equipment; coordinate with outside service providers or equipment manufacturers when specialized repairs are needed; and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and other machine-specific safety requirements.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, and comply with applicable OSHA requirements.

What we are looking for

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience maintaining CNC machine tools or similar manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to use electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools and troubleshoot systematically to identify the root cause of failures.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with Production, Engineering, and other Maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle tools, equipment, and machine components as required.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred

  • Technical degree, certificate, or formal training in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience maintaining CNC mills, lathes, grinders, or other precision machine tools.
  • Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting servo motors, drives, and motion-control systems, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience with machine tool builders such as Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Mori Seiki, Makino, or similar manufacturers.
  • Experience working in an aerospace or other precision-manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

Pay, benefits and schedule

$35-$40 per hour, full-time. Burke offers competitive pay based on skills and experience, plus opportunities for voluntary overtime.

Physical requirements and working environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in and around manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to work in confined or awkward positions when performing equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to lift and move maintenance tools, equipment, and components as required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, lubricants, coolants, and other common manufacturing conditions.

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May be required to move, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and/or complete repetitive motions during course of work.

  • Environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
