This role exists to support long-term production stability and equipment reliability at Midland Manufacturing’s Skokie facility.
As a CNC Maintenance Mechanic, you play a critical role in keeping high-value CNC machining centers running safely, accurately, and on schedule. Your work directly supports the production of precision rail tank car valves and fittings used in critical hazardous and non-hazardous material transport.

The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machining centers
- Perform preventive maintenance (TPM) including lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes
- Diagnose mechanical failures involving bearings, gears, motors, and drive systems
- Conduct root cause analysis to reduce repeat downtime
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to verify safe operation
- Support facility systems including industrial electrical, mechanical, and plumbing
- Respond to emergency repair situations to minimize production impact
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

What We’re Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of CNC or industrial maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred (Not Required):
- Direct experience maintaining Mazak, Okuma, or DMG Mori machines
- PLC troubleshooting experience
- Background in precision machining environments
