This role exists to support long-term production stability and equipment reliability at Midland Manufacturing’s Skokie facility.

As a CNC Maintenance Mechanic, you play a critical role in keeping high-value CNC machining centers running safely, accurately, and on schedule. Your work directly supports the production of precision rail tank car valves and fittings used in critical hazardous and non-hazardous material transport.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machining centers
  • Perform preventive maintenance (TPM) including lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes
  • Diagnose mechanical failures involving bearings, gears, motors, and drive systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis to reduce repeat downtime
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to verify safe operation
  • Support facility systems including industrial electrical, mechanical, and plumbing
  • Respond to emergency repair situations to minimize production impact

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of CNC or industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Direct experience maintaining Mazak, Okuma, or DMG Mori machines
  • PLC troubleshooting experience
  • Background in precision machining environments

  • Manufacturing shop environment with CNC machinery, noise, and temperature variation
  • Work may involve working at heights and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly (100 lbs occasionally with assistance)
