This role exists to support continued demand for custom-built converting equipment at Rosenthal Manufacturing.

This is a key position within a small, highly experienced shop — including the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by a machinist with 50+ years of experience. The role plays a critical part in producing one-off and custom-machined components used in the company’s converting machinery.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Set up and operate manual machining equipment and CNC milling equipment
• Program and run a Haas CNC vertical mill (conversational and/or basic G-code editing as needed)
• Machine parts from raw material to finished, inspected components with minimal supervision
• Interpret complex blueprints, 3D models, and GD&T to determine machining approach
• Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks
• Select tooling, build fixtures, and optimize setups for efficiency and accuracy
• Maintain and troubleshoot shop equipment to ensure consistent performance
• Support overall machine shop operations, including organization, safety, and upkeep
• Collaborate with engineering, welding, and assembly teams to support machine builds

You’ll work with equipment such as:

• Machines:
  • Haas CNC Vertical Mill
  • Manual lathes
  • Manual mills
  • Surface grinders
  • Sheet metal shear and bender
• Controls:
  • Haas control
  • ANILAM conversational control (preferred)
• Programming:
  • Conversational programming (ANILAM preferred)
  • Basic CNC program editing at the machine
• Inspection Tools:
  • Calipers, micrometers, gauges, and standard precision inspection tools

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of machining experience
• Ability to set up and operate:
  • Manual lathe
  • Manual mill
  • Haas CNC vertical mill
  • Surface grinder
  • Sheet metal shear and bender
• CNC programming experience (conversational or basic G-code editing)
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
• Experience with precision inspection tools and quality documentation
• Ability to take a part from print to finished component independently
• Strong shop math skills (trigonometry, geometry)

Preferred (Not Required):

• Experience with ANILAM conversational programming
• Additional Haas CNC experience
• Journeyman Machinist or Toolmaker certification

Pay Range: $25 – $32/hr (DOE)
