Prototek is expanding its Sacramento operations and seeking skilled CNC Machinists to support its growing pipeline of high-mix, low-volume prototype work. You’ll play a vital role in producing tight-tolerance components for critical sectors including aerospace, defense, medical, and commercial industries.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes
• Machine parts to tight tolerances (±0.0005”)
• Load and adjust CNC programs (Mastercam, Surfcam)
• Select tooling, build custom fixtures, and calculate feeds/speeds
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections
• Mentor less experienced machinists and contribute to quoting and planning

Machines, Controls & Software

Machines: Doosan, Haas, Mazak, DMG Mori
Controls: Fanuc, Mazatrol
CAM Software: Mastercam, Surfcam, Fusion 360
Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Level II: 2+ years of CNC machining and setup experience
• Level III: 3+ years of CNC programming and advanced machining
• Experience with both mills and lathes
• Strong blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation, and machining fundamentals
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred:

• Programming experience using Surfcam or Mastercam
• Exposure to 5-axis machining (ideal for Level III)
• Familiarity with ERP systems
• Machining certificate or associate’s degree

• CNC Machinist II: $27.00 – $34.00/hr
• CNC Machinist III: $33.00 – $40.00/hr
• 2nd Shift Premium: Additional 10%
• Sign-On Bonus: $5,000
