About the Role

James Tool Machine and Engineering, Inc. is seeking experienced CNC Machinists (Lathe and/or Mill) to join our team in Morganton, NC. This is a job shop environment, where every day brings variety and new challenges. The ideal candidate will be skilled in programming, set-up, and operation of CNC lathes and mills—producing precision components with repeatability, efficiency, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T
• Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and/or mills
• Perform test runs and adjust programs/machine settings until parts meet specifications
• Develop CNC programs in an organized and cost-effective manner
• Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust cutting paths to optimize efficiency
• Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications
• Support AS9100 & ISO 9001 quality standards and policies
• Follow all plant safety procedures and work with safety committee team members

Requirements

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience (lathes and/or mills)
• Proficiency in manual, conversational, or CAM programming
• Mastercam experience preferred
• Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a job shop environment
• Willingness to work overtime as required
