The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Program, set up, and optimize CNC mills and lathes
  • Create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs using CAM software
  • Support production scheduling and workflow decisions
  • Lead and mentor machinists on the shop floor
  • Improve machining processes, cycle times, and overall efficiency
  • Select tooling, workholding, and machining strategies
  • Perform setup verification and prove-outs for new jobs
  • Ensure operators are properly inspecting and verifying parts
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues
  • Help establish best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate directly with ownership on shop growth and operational decisions

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have significant influence over how the shop operates and scales moving forward.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 7+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Strong CNC programming and setup experience
  • Multi-axis milling experience
  • Lathe experience including live tooling
  • Ability to edit and optimize CNC programs
  • Experience using CAM software such as Fusion 360 or Mastercam
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Understanding of production management and workflow optimization
  • Ability to lead others and make sound shop-floor decisions
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • U.S. Person status due to defense-related manufacturing requirements

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Previous Lead Machinist, Shop Lead, or Supervisor experience
  • 5-axis machining experience
  • Defense or military manufacturing experience
  • Experience helping build processes and shop procedures
  • Experience mentoring and training machinists
