CNC Lathe Programmer / Setup Machinist

DPI Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer / Setup Machinist capable of programming, setting up, and proving out CNC turning work in a precision manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on position for a skilled machinist who can take a job from print through first-piece approval. The ideal candidate understands machining processes, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and how to develop reliable programs for close-tolerance production work.

Responsibilities include:

• Create, edit, and optimize CNC lathe programs
• Plan machining operations from engineering drawings and specifications
• Select appropriate tooling, inserts, workholding, feeds, and speeds
• Perform complete CNC lathe setups
• Set tooling and work offsets
• Safely prove out new and existing programs
• Complete first-piece inspections and make necessary corrections
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues
• Improve cycle times and process reliability
• Create or update setup documentation
• Work with production and quality personnel to ensure requirements are met
• Maintain accurate production and quality records

Qualifications:

• Previous CNC lathe programming and setup experience
• Ability to independently take a part from blueprint to production
• Strong knowledge of G-code and CNC turning processes
• Strong blueprint-reading and inspection skills
• Experience working with close tolerances
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gages, and other inspection equipment
• Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and workholding
• Experience with live tooling, sub-spindles, or Y-axis turning is a plus
• CAD/CAM programming experience is a plus
