Why This Role Exists

This role supports continued production demand for precision ground components used in high-tolerance manufacturing environments.

You’ll play a key role in producing critical parts where surface finish, concentricity, and tight tolerances matter — helping ensure quality, consistency, and on-time delivery across production.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC ID/OD grinding machines
  • Select appropriate grinding wheels based on material and application
  • Perform part changeovers, including program input and adjustments
  • Establish and adjust work offsets manually and using probing technology
  • Utilize tool setters and perform tool offsets as needed
  • Read and interpret machine programs and make speeds/feeds edits under guidance
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machine alarms and process issues
  • Correct out-of-process conditions (runout, flatness, etc.)
  • Calibrate tool setters, probes, and pre-setter arms
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and CMM reports
  • Maintain precision grinding standards and quality output
  • Cross-train team members on machine operations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace following 5S principles
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures

Machines, Controls & Software

  • CNC ID/OD Grinders
  • Manual Grinding Machines (preferred)
  • Tool Setters & Probing Systems
  • Standard CNC Controls (varies by machine)

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual grinding machines
  • Basic CNC programming knowledge (editing, offsets, simple program changes)
  • Experience with ID/OD micrometers, dial bore gauges, and precision inspection tools
  • Understanding of speeds, feeds, and metal cutting/grinding fundamentals
  • Experience in aerospace or tight-tolerance manufacturing environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
