As Siemens Energy continues expanding production across its Steam Turbine, Large Generator, Gas Turbine, and Combustion Components product lines, we are growing our advanced machining team in Charlotte, NC.

This role is critical to manufacturing precision power generation equipment used around the world. As an Advanced CNC Horizontal Milling Machinist, you'll work on large, complex components requiring tight tolerances, advanced setups, and a strong understanding of machining processes. This position offers the opportunity to contribute technical expertise while helping drive continuous improvement across the operation.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC Horizontal Boring Mills and other CNC machining centers
  • Machine large turbine, generator, and power generation components
  • Read, interpret, and execute CNC programs
  • Perform machine setups, tooling selection, and offset adjustments
  • Make minor program edits using G-Code and M-Code programming
  • Build and preset tooling for machining operations
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing instructions
  • Apply GD&T principles throughout the machining process
  • Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Hold tolerances ranging from 0.0005" to 0.005"
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment to verify dimensional accuracy
  • Troubleshoot machining processes and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to support continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience
  • Strong proficiency operating Horizontal Boring Mills, CNC mills, or CNC lathes
  • Ability to perform complex machine setups independently
  • Experience with tooling selection and offset adjustments
  • Knowledge of G-Code and M-Code programming
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Strong shop mathematics skills
  • Ability to maintain tight tolerances from 0.0005" to 0.005"
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to earn a Career Readiness / WorkKeys Certificate (Silver Level)

Preferred

  • Horizontal Boring Mill experience
  • Machining or CNC-related Associate Degree
  • Technical school or apprenticeship training
  • CNC programming coursework or certifications
  • Experience machining large power generation, aerospace, or heavy industrial components
