CNC Swiss Machinist Pay — What Shops Are Actually Posting
If you’re hiring or job-hunting Swiss-type work, here’s what shops are actually posting right now — not a national average, not a guess. Same live-board method as the rest of this pay series: every figure below comes from real JobPosting data on hirecnc.com, pulled September 10, 2026.
The Numbers
Median pay for CNC Swiss machinist postings on our board right now: $32.00/hr, across 19 live listings — the middle half run $28.75 to $37.75/hr.
Worth saying plainly: 19 is still a smaller sample than the other roles in this series (mill, setup, and programmer all clear 25+ postings), so treat this as a real but early read, not the final word — we’ll keep it current as more Swiss postings come through.
That $32.00/hr median sits below general CNC machinist pay ($33.93/hr), and now sits roughly in line with mill and lathe/turning work ($32.50/hr and $32.00/hr) rather than below them. Swiss roles are already documented as harder to fill and slower to close than general machining roles on this board — see hireCNC’s Swiss recruiting page — so a Swiss posting now paying about the same as a mill or lathe posting, despite being tougher to staff, is still worth noting. That’s a real gap, not spin.
Where Swiss Pay Tops Out
Three real postings from the current board, highest first:
- Camtool, Inc (IN) — CNC Swiss Programmer/Machinist, PartMaker — $35.00–$45.00/hr
- Cox Manufacturing (TX) — CNC Swiss & Swiss Lead Machinist, Day Shift — $26.00–$50.00/hr
- Rapido Talent — Swiss CNC Setup Programmer, Tsugami/Star/PartMaker — $30.00–$45.00/hr
PartMaker programming knowledge and Tsugami/Star/Citizen platform experience are common threads across the highest-paying Swiss postings on this board right now.
How This Compares to the Government Number
No BLS breakout exists for Swiss-type machining specifically — the closest is the blended “machinists” median, $26.99/hr (May 2024, Occupational Outlook Handbook). That’s close to what our board shows for Swiss work, for what it’s worth — unlike some of the other specialties in this series, Swiss pay on our board isn’t running noticeably ahead of the national blended figure right now.
