CNC Machining Jobs Hiring This Week — August 19, 2026
There's a pattern in this week's list.
Almost everything good is around Chicago.
Cicero. Addison. Wheeling. West Chicago. Four shops, all within about an hour of each other, all hiring machinists right now.
If you live in that area, this is a good week for you.
If you don't, there's still plenty here — Indiana, Michigan, Texas, California, New York and six openings in Canada.

Brad Foote Gearing — Cicero, IL
Open positions
- CNC Machinist — 5-Axis / Mazak / VTL, 2nd shift | $21.27–$38.65 an hour
- Manual Turning Machinist — Large Gears / VBM, 2nd shift | Pay DOE
This is a gear shop, and it's a big one.
Over 40 machinists between CNC and manual. Parts from one inch up to 140 inches in diameter.
That second number is the interesting one. Not many shops in the country are turning 140-inch gears.
The equipment is 5-axis DMG Mori mills, Mazak lathes, and manual and VBM turning. It's hands-on work. You're not standing there hitting cycle start.
They were the first U.S. gear maker to get ISO 9001. They've put $10 million into new machinery over the last five years.
A few things that stood out to us:
They have long-term contract work behind this hiring. They're building out 2nd shift, not plugging a hole for a few months.
And there's a guaranteed pay increase every February.
We don't see that often. Most shops promise an "annual review," and plenty of machinists tell us that review shows up late or doesn't come with a raise attached. A date on the calendar is better.
Medical, dental and vision start the first of the month after you start, with an HSA contribution.

Checkered Past Machine — Brownsburg, IN
Open positions
- CNC Mill-Turn Machinist / Programmer | $30–$49 an hour
- CNC Lathe Machinist — Wheeling, IL | $27–$42 an hour
AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified. ITAR registered.
They make parts for aerospace, defense and motorsports — including Indycar and Xtrac teams.
Motorsports work is different. Short runs, tight deadlines, parts that have to be right the first time because the car races on Sunday either way.
Equipment is Okuma, Haas and Mazak mill-turn and milling. Programming is Fusion 360, Mastercam and SolidWorks CAM.
It's a small team, and they say practical ideas on tooling and process actually get used. That's worth something if you've ever worked somewhere your suggestions went nowhere.
Clean, climate-controlled shop. Health, dental and vision, 401(k) match, PTO and tuition reimbursement.
There's room to move into lead or programming work if that's where you're headed.
Helander Metal Spinning Company — Addison, IL
Open position
$65 an hour at the top of the range.
That's one of the higher numbers we've posted this year, and the requirements match it.
AS9100, ISO 9000, ITAR and Nadcap welding certified. This is real aerospace and defense work.
You'd be running Haas, Mori Seiki and Doosan mills and lathes, 3- to 5-axis, holding ±.005" or better. Materials are titanium, Inconel and other high-performance alloys.
You own the programming and the process. That's the job.
If you've been machining exotics for years and getting paid like you're running aluminum, this is the one to look at.

Contract and Field Machining Work
If you're comfortable traveling, contract work is worth a look.
Most of the current openings are short-term and travel-ready, and most include per diem plus overtime.
The money can be better than a shop job. The tradeoff is time away from home.
