We have an immediate opening for a Precision Machining and Grinding Apprentice. The position will be based in our Hopkinton, MA location, supporting manufacturing operations. You will be primarily responsible for machining and grinding components used in our air bearing product line. We are looking for a candidate who is currently attending or recently graduated from a vocational/technical school with a focus on machining and/or grinding. What You Will Do: You will be primarily responsible for machining and flat grinding components used in our air bearing product line. <ul><li>Machining low-volume parts using CNC-controlled mini-mill and manual machine tools.</li><li>Precision flat grinding operations using surface grinders (Okamoto) to high precision tolerances.</li><li>Single piece prototypes to low volume production.</li><li>Performing in-process and final inspection on parts and verifying that all print tolerances and specifications are met.</li><li>Work alongside experienced machinists to gain valuable hands-on training.</li></ul>What Have You Done: <ul><li>0 years of experience. Machining and Grinding Apprentice

<ul><li>To make it understood that "the Customer is our first priority".</li><li>To setup CNC milling machines and complete first piece runs, including first piece inspections.</li><li>To operate CNC milling machines for production runs, including in process inspections as required per process control documentation.</li><li>To preform all necessary maintenance on CNC machine tools.</li><li>To use available inspection equipment to ensure every machined part under his/her direct control meets required dimensions.</li><li>To thoroughly document all manufacturing processes for future use.</li><li>To ensure the safety of themselves and others when working with cutting tools and CNC machines.</li><li>To ensure whenever possible that CNC machines run unattended during non business hours as much as possible.</li><li>To help develop new ideas that will increase productivity, product quality, and/or decrease rejects with respect to machining.</li><li>To maintain a clean working environment.</li><li>To adhere to company policies as described in the employee handbook.</li><li>To keep the Machine Shop Manager informed of any issue that may have an adverse affect on the well being of the company.</li><li>Attend or conduct meetings as necessary and required.</li><li>Any other duties or tasks assigned by the Machine Shop Manager.</li></ul>Requirements EDUCATION <ul><li>High School Diploma</li></ul> EXPERIENCE <ul><li>1-3 years minimum as CNC machinist</li></ul> SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: <ul><li>Ability to interact with employees.</li><li>Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.</li><li>Ability to setup and run CNC milling machines.</li><li>Ability to properly use inspection equipment to inspect machined parts.</li><li>Ability to perform machine and tool maintenance activities.</li><li>Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and perform machine set-ups.</li></ul> PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS <ul><li>Prolonged periods of sitting and standing</li><li>Ability to lift at least 80 lbs.</li><li>Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes</li><li>Environment: Climate controlled machine shop</li></ul>
