The CNC Set-Up Machinist under the direction of the manager/supervisor coordinates activities of the CNC Machining Department in safety, materials management, productivity / job / work order management, scheduling and personnel management.
  • Our successful candidate qualifications:
  • Verify that all first piece inspections are performed and approved.
  • Able to work independently
  • Verify that material and paperwork for the job being performed is correct.
  • Plan machining in accordance with all blueprints and hard copy and electronic technical data and specifications, applying geometric dimensioning and tolerances as required
  • Set-up mills by adjusting all necessary fixturing and machine attachments; setting and applying tool and machine reference points and offsets and calculating requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Check stock and load and unload the machine.
  • Create an in-process inspection report for each operation, as necessary, if one does not exist.
  • Identify non-conformance, if discovered, notify your supervisor so that it can be documented identified, dispositioned, and segregated from the remainder of the lot.
  • Verify that there are no chips on either the jaws/fixture or on the part/material to be machined.
  • Load the part/material, verify that the part is properly seated in the fixture/jaws, snug against any stop pins prior to clamping or tightening of the jaws.
  • Identify discrepant material left in your work area, notify your supervisor so that it can be dispositioned and segregated.
  • Follow all quality procedures, work instructions, and documents pertaining to your job and department.
  • Identify any problems/issues while running an operation, notify the supervisor immediately.
  • Responsible for keeping the machine and the immediate area clean.
  • Monitor coolant levels.
  • Clean the chips from machine at the end of you shift, or when the job is finished.
  • Verify that all company and personal inspection equipment and tools being used are in calibration.
  • At the completion of a job, a total quantity count must be written on the route sheet along with MDR numbers, his employee number, and the date.
  • Responsible for verifying that all company inspection equipment and tools in the department are in calibration.
  • Verify that there are no chips on either the jaws/fixture or on the part/material to be machined.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Must have experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)Lathe and Milling
  • Must be able to operate the various machines within the department with minimal instruction.
  • Must be able to understand G-Code
  • Must be capable of reading and understanding drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Must have good leadership skills and be capable of training employees.
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision.
