CNC Horizontal Machinist - Large Generator Rotors (2nd Shift, Mon - Fri, 4:00pm - 12:00am)

RMS Inc. is looking for a Lead CNC HBM Machinist - Night Shift to join our team. The Lead CNC HBM Machinist - Night Shift will supervise the night shift machinist while ensuring adherence to proper schedule and priorities with primary responsibility to drive production and quality. This role may also perform a variety of finish machining practices involved with drilling, threading (tap &amp; thread mill), boring, etc, while maintaining close tolerances on a wide variety of components from various industries. The ideal candidate needs to be fluent with Fanuc Controls (Tosnuc) including A+ experience with cogsdill contouring heads and the use of right-angle heads. The candidate must be able to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, read and understand programs, all to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Must have basic hand &amp; measuring tools, indicators, etc. PRIMARY RESPONISIBILTIES <ul><li>Supervise, instruct and direct personnel.</li><li>Manage daily time and attendance.</li><li>Operates and programs machine tools in accordance with training and safety procedures.</li><li>Reads blueprints or job orders to obtain product specifications (dimensions and tolerances) and tooling instructions (fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and cutting tools).</li><li>Positions and secures workpieces to holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers, or fixtures using clamps and wrenches.</li><li>Sets specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut in accordance with product specifications and tooling instructions.</li><li>Ability to read and comprehend complex engineering drawings and blueprints.</li><li>Ability to set up and operate a full range of conventional machine shop equipment.</li><li>Observes operation and verifies conformance of machined workpieces to specifications using measuring instruments such as fixed gauges, calipers, comparators, and micrometers.</li><li>Performs machine daily checks and maintenance.</li><li>Works to close tolerances and select speeds, feeds, and tools for varying conditions according to reference manuals or materials for machine setups and repair. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. <ul><li>Strong leadership skills- able to direct, instruct and guide others and make quick decisions</li><li>Well organized and strongly focused on safety at all times</li><li>Solid machining background</li><li>Must have Minimum 10 years of experience in CNC MILLING MACHINES to be considered. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of reading drawings and ability to use standard precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, and optical comparators.</li><li>Carry out all common arithmetic operations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, including calculating area, tangent points, &amp; volume.</li><li>Possess strong analytical and communication skills.</li><li>Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues.</li><li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or print form.</li><li>Cogsdil Contouring head experience a plus.</li></ul> EXPERIENCE <ul><li>Must have Minimum 10 years of experience in CNC MILLING MACHINES to be considered. </li></ul> EDUCATION <ul><li>High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school or institution.</li></ul> SPECIAL INFORAMTION <ul><li>The position will be based full-time in our Tomball, Texas (Breaux) facility.</li><li>Availability to work weekends, holidays and overtime to meet company needs.</li><li>Available to work overnight shift. </li><li>Able to understand, read, write, and speak English proficiently.</li><li>Authorized to work in the United States</li><li>Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical requirements.</li><li>This role can be required to participate in company and/or customers random drug testing requirements.</li><li>While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.</li><li>Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance, walk, climb, reach above head, and balance.</li><li>Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage.</li><li>Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.</li></ul> Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
