PRIMARY FUNCTIONS The primary functions include operating multi-axes computer numerical control (CNC) milling machines or lathes to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, including the following: • Loads material in machine. Starts machine and observes cutting operation • Ability to finish set up of a machine with minimal assistance and within a reasonable time frame • Makes offsets independently to finish the set-up process • Sets up and replaces tools without supervision • Recognizes tool wear before dimensions are affected • Ability to make basic changes to programs on machines • Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet • Adjusts tool lengths and fixture offsets if required • Monitors tooling usage for maximum cost effectiveness • Responsible for the accuracy and quality of the part • Ability to understand and document requirements of Inspecting Plans • Authorized to stop processes to ensure quality • Responsible for machine turnovers to adjacent shift operators • Works overtime as required • Other duties as assigned EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least one-year related experience and/or training LANGUAGE SKILLS: • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routers and inspections procedures • Ability to read and interpret blueprints • Ability to read and understand G and M code programming MATHEMATICAL SKILLS • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry or ability to use a trig book. • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations preferred. REASONING ABILITY: • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude • Operates basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, surface plate checks and optical comparators. CNC Machinist, Multiple Openings, 1st and 2nd Shift Available

Position Summary: The Machinist II is qualified to run the machine on their own with minimal assistance. The operator will make minor adjustments &amp;/or tool offsets and will work with a more senior Machinist for any major adjustments. Essential Functions: <ul><li>Observes operation of machine(s) and verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications and dimensional tolerances as well as visually inspects parts for non-conformance.</li><li>Reads and interprets work instructions for product specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.</li><li>Follows standard operating production procedures and work instructions. Performs work in a systematic manner to ensure all steps are carried out in proper sequence.</li><li>Reads and interprets measuring devices to ensure quality standards are met. If the operation is causing quality issues the machinist may troubleshoot the issue or stop production and consult with a senior CNC Machinist, Quality, or Supervisor.</li><li>Submits engineering change requests to supervisor for evaluation.</li></ul><ul><li>Interprets CMM report and makes necessary offsets.</li><li>Maintains production on multiple machines.</li><li>Properly sets any required offsets for the part to be machined after a basic tool setting process has been completed.</li><li>Interprets CNC program: units of measure, positioning system, tools, spindle speeds, feed rates, canned cycles, coolant use, axis destination movements, tool movements, and end-of-program code.</li><li>Performs preventative maintenance checks on machine. This includes checking all fluid levels, system pressure, tooling wear, component lubrication and cleaning.</li><li>Accurately report production results (labor time, part counts and status) in production system.</li><li>Properly report scrap and move to reject hold area or QC reject area.</li><li>Responsible for all housekeeping. Perform major cleanup as required.</li><li>Follows and completes daily work assignments as directed.</li><li>Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
