Job Description Pay Range: $26-$40 per hour 2nd Shift: Monday through Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. OR 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Time and a half for hours over 10 in a day, and of course 40 in a week. $2 an hour shift differential. Position Summary Position is focused primarily on the setup and operation of a Y-axis CNC Lathe. Applies inspection techniques to monitor the CNC process. CNC Machinist - Clinton, MA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Perform machine operations on CNC or manual engine lathe. Tasks such as profiling, sub-blanking, coupling turning and threading. Second level in CNC Machinist training requiring close supervision. DUTIES: <ul><li>Ability to set up and thread VAM TOP Family threads and API threads, pin and boxes.</li><li>Accurately measure, and record product tolerances required for Pre-Level CNC 1, VAM Top family, and API threads.</li><li>Comprehend Original Equipment Manufacturer, Vallourec Tube-Alloy drawings and Manufacturing Orders.</li><li>Maintain product traceability throughout the manufacturing process, including product marking per SOP, TSLI, and Licensor requirements.</li><li>Follow Vallourec Tube Alloy HS&amp;E safety standards, policies and understand the Risk Assessments pertaining to machine operations.</li><li>Perform machine maintenance per SOP, TSLI, and Autonomous Maintenance requirements.</li><li>Capable of making required molds for VAM Top family of threads.</li><li>Maintain 5S standards.</li><li>Maintain operator measured Efficiencies and Utilization requirements.</li><li>Participate in at least one Continuous Improvement Event.</li><li>Must have successfully completed all classroom, SOP, and TSLI related training for CNC 1.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul> REPORTS TO: Department Manager/Supervisor/Lead Person as applicable per facility QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet requirements for Pre-CNC 1. SPECIAL SKILLS: Good mechanical aptitude and must meet Pre-CNC 1 requirements. Good mathematical background and can calculate rework pull-back for hooked threads, calculating angles, and turning speeds. Ability to safely operate a jib crane to load and unload product.

What You'll Do: • Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to. • Check production schedule or shop request list and plan work tasks. • Study blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, setup requirements, and check for errors. • Accurately measures, numbers, identifies dimensions, and reference points on material for fabrication or other work cells for further machining as necessary. • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required. • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures. • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. • Inspect finished workpiece(s) to blueprints, quality standards, exact tolerances, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary. • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data to process steel (some pieces weighing as much as 300 lbs). • Consults with engineers, production management, programmers, or others to resolve machining or programming problems. • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like-new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures. • Assist with directing work activities of any support staff as necessary (forklift operator, CNC machine trainees, and/or material handlers). • Miscellaneous other duties as directed by Machine Shop or Shift Lead.
