About the Role
Systematic Manufacturing is seeking a senior-level CNC Swiss lathe machinist to join our first shift team. This position is designed for a highly experienced machinist who brings strong hands-on capability and is ready to take on leadership responsibilities on the shop floor.
You’ll work with advanced multi-axis Swiss-style CNC lathes, playing a key role in maintaining quality, throughput, safety, and process efficiency while mentoring junior machinists and supporting overall shop performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 2-axis, 7-axis dual-spindle, and 9-axis Swiss CNC lathes (Citizen and similar platforms)
- Edit and optimize G-code to improve cycle times, tool life, and part accuracy
- Lead by example with tool changes, offset adjustments, and insert identification
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and optical comparators
- Collaborate with programmers and supervisors on continuous process improvements
- Mentor junior machinists, support new hire training, and assist with apprentice onboarding
- Ensure all work meets internal documentation, quality, and compliance standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and 7S-compliant work environment
- Communicate clearly with leadership regarding job status, materials, and production priorities
What You Bring
- 7+ years of CNC Swiss lathe machining experience
- Strong familiarity with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls
- Proven ability to independently troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues
- High attention to detail with a strong quality-driven mindset
- Ability to coach, mentor, and lead peers in a shop-floor environment
- Experience holding tight or mil-spec tolerances preferred
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow shop policies and procedures
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace or defense machining experience
- Documentation experience including travelers, first articles, and in-process inspection logs
