SUMMARY
Responsible for writing and generating CNC machine code, ensuring the production of high-quality components from raw materials. The role demands a keen eye for detail, proficiency in computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and interpret technical blueprints and design models to understand product dimensions and requirements.
  • Program CNC machines by inputting design specifications into computer modeling software, selecting appropriate cutting tools, and adjusting machine settings to meet product specifications.
  • Perform quality control tests during the manufacturing stage and on the final product to ensure all items meet client specifications.
  • Work closely with other departmental staff to ensure efficient operation procedures and meet production deadlines.
  • Balance workload between various machines to maintain production schedule.
  • Write Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for departmental tasks.
  • Train users to use software and provide technical assistance.
  • Monitor performance of program after implementation and troubleshoot programming issues to put countermeasures in place to prevent reoccurrence of the problem.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to navigate the windows environment.
  • Participation in continuous improvement lean processes and events.
  • Familiarity with quality process control systems and workplace safety standards.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of materials including resin, wood, and steel.
  • A willingness to learn the operation of the equipment to be programmed across all manufacturing plants.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.)in a related field or 2 to 4 years' experience programming CNC sheet metal punching and cutting machines. Must have experience using CAD/CAM programming software, preferably Autocad and/or Optimation. One year manufacturing experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
