The Machinist/CNC Programmer is responsible for CNC machine programming, setup and first article for multi-axis CNC mills and lathes, for both production and prototype components.

The Machinist/CNC Programmer is expected to:
  • Understand capability of manufacturing equipment, operations, software, etc.
  • Create, review, and edit computer numeric controlled (CNC) machining programs
  • Provide training, guidance and expertise to machinists, operators, and other teams
  • Maintain programming database and files for each part and machining center
  • Support manufacturing operations team by providing input for routers and process flow
  • Develop and recommend resources and methods for equipment, tooling materials, processes, etc.
  • Track and evaluate costs and efficiency including tooling, material, and cycles
  • Assist in providing information for quotations and contract reviews

Responsibilities

The Machinist/CNC Programmer programs and sets-up a production machine, including first article, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The Machinist/CNC Programmer will adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and supervisor guidance and in a timely fashion.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Create, review, and edit precision computer numeric controlled (CNC) machining programs and perform machine set-ups, including first article, to produce conforming parts on time and to specification. Must be willing to run CNC machines as required
  • Participate in the quoting process to ensure accurate capture of production costs including, but not limited to labor, cycle times, tooling, fixturing, etc.
  • Maintain programming data base and files for each part and machining center.
  • Provide training, guidance and expertise to all manufacturing team members.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Production Manager

Requirements:
  • 5+ Years in CNC Manufacturing environment (Aerospace a PLUS)
  • 2+ Years CNC Programming Experience
  • Basic machine shop plus tool knowledge (strong)
  • Precision measurement tooling experience
  • Team working skills
  • Strong shop math skills
  • CAD/CAM Experience a plus
  • Ability to setup and run without supervision
