Compensation: $25-$35/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confirm that all safety devices are in place and operational.
  • Maintain log of preventive maintenance on a daily/weekly schedule according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Select, position, and align tooling in machine tool holder to confirm they are secured.
  • Sharpen and maintain tooling for peak performance; notify the supervisor of worn or broken tooling.
  • Adjust to set specified pressure and tool clearance.
  • Set cut dimensions using computer controls from print details.
  • Position work piece against stops securely.
  • Measure work-piece dimensions throughout the operation to assure quality and repeatability.
  • Design or recommend tooling to perform the job more efficiently.
  • Startup, operate and shut down CNC turning machines following established procedures and all manufacturer’s safety requirements.
  • Some supervision of staff and job scheduling.
  • Alert supervisor of any problems and suggest changes that will allow jobs to run more efficiently.
  • Observe tool and machine operation to detect work-piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Maintain tooling inventory including consumables.
  • Keep work area neat and orderly, including clean-up of metal chips.
  • Maintain material storage and coolant as required.
  • Maintain accurate time keeping for jobs.
  • Manage workflow and materials through the machine shop.
  • Ability to play a lead role for machine shop personnel.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Tee Enterprises achieve its goals.

Inspection Requirements:

  • Verify quantity, material type and thickness.
  • Check for any material defects or damage.
  • Verify correct orientation of all pieces.
  • Check all size dimensions on first piece to verify correct tooling setup.

Physical Demands/ Work Conditions:

  • The operator stands/sits for 8-10 hours per day with, walking, stooping, and reaching, as well as frequently lifting manually and/or moving material up to 50 pounds.
  • Typical manufacturing environment, subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil, and electrical hazards.
  • Frequently working with machinery that has pinch points and rotating parts.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses.
  • Gloves when handling sharp material.
  • Earplugs when machinery is operating if required.
  • Safety shoes

Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical school certificate or associate degree preferred.
  • Five or more years’ experience in a precision machine shop.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Understand Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Identify material types and gauges.
  • Ability to assist in training new hires.
  • Proficient in Cad Cam programming.
  • Proficient in Machine tool setup.
  • Read job specifications to determine adjustments.
  • Read tape measure, dial caliper, depth gauge, micrometer, dial indicator, and other various measuring instruments.
  • Ability to convert decimals to fractions when working with work orders/blueprints.
  • Ability to train and operate the forklift.
