Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced horizontal Machinist with a strong background in precision machining for the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in setting up, operating, and programming horizontal CNC machines to produce complex components with extremely tight tolerances, often as low as +/- 0.0001". This position plays a critical role in manufacturing parts that meet strict quality and safety standards for aerospace applications.
1st and 2nd Shift Available
Working Hours
- 4x10 Schedule
- Day shift: 6AM - 4:30PM
- Afternoon shift: 12:30PM - 10PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate horizontal CNC machines to produce high-precision aerospace components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure proper machining processes and specifications are followed.
- Perform detailed inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, CMMs) to verify that parts meet strict tolerance and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and adjust machine settings to address any issues with dimensions or surface finishes.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control, and production teams to ensure that manufacturing processes are optimized for quality and efficiency.
- Maintain machine tools by performing preventive maintenance and making minor repairs as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience operating and programming horizontal CNC machines in an aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Deep understanding of tight tolerance machining (+/- 0.0001") and complex geometries.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints.
- Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs.
- Familiarity with various aerospace materials, including aluminum, titanium, and Inconel.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an AS9100 or ISO 9001-certified environment.
- Experience machining complex aerospace components such as turbine blades, housings, or structural components.
