Horizontal Boring Mill Setup/Operator (Open to VTL Operators)

Position:

We’re seeking experienced CNC and manual machinists who can set up and operate large horizontal boring mills or vertical turning lathes. This is not a button-pushing job—you’ll work hands-on with heavy fabrications and castings in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate horizontal boring mills and vertical turning lathes (CNC & manual).
• Perform editing and light programming at the machine (Fanuc controls; Mastercam experience preferred).
• Work independently from blueprints and part drawings.
• Machine large steel fabrications and castings to tight tolerances.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Collaborate with our programming and engineering teams to optimize processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent hands-on machining experience.
• Strong setup skills on horizontal boring mills and/or vertical lathes.
• Experience with Fanuc controls; familiarity with Mastercam and SolidWorks a plus.
• Ability to machine both castings and large fabrications.
• Self-sufficient in machine setup and operation with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and other precision inspection tools.

Our shop includes:

• Toshiba, Shibaura, TOS, and Union Horizontal Boring Mills
• Toshiba and Morando Vertical Boring & Turning Machines (up to 215” rotary table)
• Okuma Gantry Mill, US Burke Millright, multiple lathes, radial drills, and keyseaters
• FARO Arm CMM & Laser Tracker for inspection

Work Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM – 4:00/5:00 PM
• Optional Saturday mornings
• 55–60 hours/week typical (plenty of overtime available)

Compensation & Benefits

• $30–$44/hr based on experience + OT
