General Carbide in Greensburg, PA is looking for an experienced Rollomatic Operator/CNC Machinist, day shift 6:00am-2:30pm. General Carbide is a leader in the manufacturing of finished tooling and wear parts for customers in more than two dozen market segments.

As a Rollomatic Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Rollomatic grinding machines to manufacture precision parts. You will work closely with the production team to ensure all products meet the required specifications and quality standards.

Our facilities include: HAAS, Mazak, Doosan, Kellenbergers, Rollomatics, CNC Lathe and Mill, EDM Wire/RAM; just to name a few. All employees have the opportunity to learn and be cross-trained between machines and departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate Rollomatic CNC grinding machines for the production of high-precision cutting tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate product manufacturing.
  • Perform machine programming and tool adjustments as necessary.
  • Has basic knowledge of "G" and "M" code programming and can write basic programs.
  • Can interpret and edit CNC programs created by engineering when necessary.
  • Efficiently operates multiple types of equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor the production process and adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
  • Conduct regular machine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure products meet strict quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to company safety protocols.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating Rollomatic or similar CNC grinding machines in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or equivalent training in CNC machine operation is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CNC machine setup, programming, and operation.
    • Strong understanding of grinding operations and cutting tool geometry.
    • Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to work with tight tolerances and ensure high-quality output.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to address machine issues quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Pass a background check and drug test.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, anything over 100 pounds or awkward should be lifted by 2 employees or mechanical means.
Salary Description

$26.00/hour - $28.00/hour
