Full job description

G&P Machinery is looking for an experienced and skilled CNC Machinist. This individual must be able to setup, program, and run parts to specifications from blueprints, also they must have knowledge and ability to operate machines in a manufacturing environment such as drill press, hydraulic press, saws, grinders, ect. Hand operations such as tapping, are also required. 

The preferred candidate will possess a strong machining background with experience that includes proficiency with the setup, operation and programming of Vertical CNC Milling Machines and Turning Centers. This preferred candidate will be able to hit the ground running by utilizing existing CNC programs. Additional experience with fixture and tool design, as well as 5-Axis programming is preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess great organization and prioritization skills, a strong work ethic, problem solving, the ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines and strong verbal and written skills. Attention to detail in this position is a must. Our requirement is for high part to part quality, as well as, efficient work output, with a minimal amount of scrap and rework.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Blue print reading and comprehension is a must and previous experience is required.
  • Must have experience with set up and running of CNC machines
  • Must be able to run Fanuc controlled Puma 230 CNC Lathe and Doosan DNM 400 Vertical Mill
  • Must be able to Set Up CNC (measure bits and input the proper offsets), ensuring each piece meets required specifications
  • Inspect parts for accuracy and measure all parts to ensure tolerances are met
  • Make adjustments to CNC coordinates and off sets as needed to maintain accuracy and quality of parts
  • Check programs for specific details needed for setting up the CNC and edit if needed
  • Lift parts onto pallets or carts and label parts as needed
  • Experience with machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Solidworks and SolidCam experience a plus
  • Equipment trouble shooting experience a plus
  • Must supply own tools and tool box

Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 5 years of prior CNC experience
  • Must be able to operate safely and efficiently within a warehouse
  • Math skills: Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry
  • Excellent communication skills and basic Computer skills required
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and other tasks as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, on a frequent to continual basis in a warehouse environment
  • Reach above shoulder level frequently
  • Must be able to work in a noisy warehouse environment
  • Must be able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, & gloves)
  • Must be able to pass drug test and national criminal background check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
