CNC Swiss Lathe Lead Machinist

Broda Machine Company has recently expanded and is searching for a lead Swiss CNC for a cell of 5 machines. Broda Machine Company is a modern, well equipped, air conditioned/heated facility. The individual operates and manages Swiss computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines to produce machined parts. They are responsible for programming, setting up, and operating these machines with minimal assistance. Additionally, they must maintain quality and safety standards, and ensure the availability of necessary tooling, equipment, and supplies for daily production.

This role reports to the management and requires certain key skills and competencies:

1) At least 1 year of experience in set-up, programming and operation of Swiss CNC lathes. We currently have Star, SR20J, SR32J and Tsugami, B0385, B0385L machines.

2) Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments.

3) Strong understanding of blueprint reading, geometric tolerance interpretation, and shop math.

4) Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, including speeds and feeds, tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other machine accessories.

5) Ability to troubleshoot, edit, and program CNC programs based on prints in a timely manner.

6) Demonstration of leadership skills by setting precedence through leading by example.

7) Leadership skills are required for this role.

Responsibilities and accountabilities include:

1) Assisting in the training and mentorship of other employees in all aspects of the job.

2) Determining the optimal order of operations for product manufacturing.

3) Conducting advanced level setups of machines, including program writing, when necessary, program editing, and program proving. Additionally, selecting appropriate tooling is part of this responsibility.

4) Detecting and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and out-of-tolerance part features, making necessary adjustments within machine capabilities to ensure production quality.

5) Managing multiple jobs and personnel during daily operations, including running, inspecting, and optimizing established jobs.

General Shop & Maintenance:
Job requires material handling, warehouse organization, machine cleaning and oil separation from chips.
Position also requires the use of a crane and forklift.

Broda Machine Company is operational between the hours of 5am - 4pm. Regular Shift is 7am - 3pm.
