The CNC Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the CNC department to ensure the efficient production of high-quality parts. This includes overseeing CNC operations, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as supervising and training CNC operators. The role requires strong technical expertise in CNC machining, programming in both G-code and utilizing Solidworks based CAD/CAM software, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This is an on-site position at our Lake Zurich facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Team Supervision and Development:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of CNC operators and machinists.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Foster a safe and collaborative work environment.
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule CNC machining operations to meet production demand.
  • Monitor and control production processes to ensure optimal efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for CNC operations.
  • Lead proper machine setup, tooling, and programming.

Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all produced parts meet or exceed quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on finished products.
  • Implement corrective actions for any identified defects or non-conformities.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Oversee routine maintenance and repair of CNC machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with CNC machines and equipment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC technology and techniques.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to waste reduction efforts.

Coordination and Communication:
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, quality control, and production planning.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and CNC Department Manager on a daily basis to ensure that the entire team is engaged and working toward the same strategies.
  • Complete the provided Overall Equipment Effectiveness production file on a daily basis, to maintain overall departmental performance.

Job Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CNC programming, operation, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills. Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
