Job Overview

Rice Precision Manufacturing is hiring an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our production team in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for a hands-on machinist with 3–5+ years of experience programming, setting up, and running Fanuc-controlled CNC machines, including CNC turning centers, mill-turn machines, and vertical machining centers (VMCs).

You’ll work in a high-mix, precision machining environment, programming parts in Mastercam, optimizing feeds and speeds, and ensuring consistent quality and efficiency. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, safety-conscious team player who takes pride in producing high-quality machined components and is always open to learning and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program CNC parts using Mastercam
  • Set up CNC machines, including program loading, editing, tool selection, and part qualification
  • Operate and optimize Fanuc-controlled CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn centers
  • Adjust machine parameters such as speeds, feeds, and offsets
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make real-time adjustments during production
  • Maintain safe work practices and follow all shop safety standards
  • Collaborate closely with other machinists, programmers, and supervisors

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer and/or CNC Machinist
  • Strong Mastercam programming experience
  • Hands-on knowledge of CNC machining centers (mills, lathes, mill-turn)
  • Experience with Fanuc CNC controls
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools and inspection processes
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to health and safety regulations

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred)
  • Machining experience: 1+ year preferred (3–5+ years strongly desired)
  • Valid Driver’s License required

Schedule & Hours

  • Weekdays: 4 x 12-hour shifts (5:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – 1st & 2nd shift availability
  • Weekends: 3 x 12-hour shifts (5:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – 1st & 2nd shift availability
  • Overtime available
