This role exists to support continued production growth and programming demand at Rice Precision Manufacturing’s Houston facility.

The CNC Programmer / Machinist plays a key role in driving efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across a high-mix machining environment by owning both programming and setup responsibilities on the shop floor.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Program CNC parts using Mastercam
• Set up and run CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines
• Load, edit, and verify CNC programs at the machine
• Select tooling, establish offsets, and qualify first articles
• Optimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths for efficiency and quality
• Run high-mix precision machining jobs
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections
• Troubleshoot machining and process issues in real time
• Collaborate closely with machinists, programmers, and supervisors

Machines, Controls & Software

You’ll work with equipment such as:

• Machines: CNC turning centers, mill-turn machines, vertical machining centers (VMCs)
• Controls: Fanuc
• CAM Software: Mastercam
• Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers, gauges, and standard shop inspection equipment

Materials You’ll Work With

• Aluminum
• Steel
• Stainless steel
• Other production materials as required

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience
• Hands-on CNC programming experience using Mastercam
• Experience setting up and running CNC mills and/or lathes
• Strong understanding of tooling, offsets, and workholding
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Comfortable inspecting parts and holding tight tolerances
• Reliable, safety-minded, and able to work independently

Preferred (Not Required):

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience
• Mill-turn machining experience
• High-mix or job shop machining background
