Role Summary
Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Work from blueprints, sketches or computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (GibbsCAM) files.
- Set up, operate, and disassemble manual, automatic, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machine tools, and computer-aided machine.
- Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and work pieces
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines
- Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications
- Use both manual and computer-controlled machinery
- Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects
- Smooth the surfaces of parts or products
- Present finished work pieces to customers and makes modifications if needed
- Operator crane and forklift.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary or appropriate
- High school diploma/GED required with technical schooling preferred.
- At least 1 year machinist job-related experience.
- Experience using lathes, milling machines, and grinders, ideally within a metal stamping facility
- Can demonstrate AutoCAD (Catia preferred), GibbsCam programming experience.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight timelines.
- Clear understanding of Lean Principals & Tools
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
- Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand
- The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
