You will collaborate closely with engineering, design, and production teams to create high-precision parts that meet rigorous military specifications.
Responsibilities
- CNC Programming: Write, test, and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning, and other machining processes for complex components used in autonomous maritime systems.
- Toolpath Development: Utilize CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) to generate efficient and precise toolpaths, ensuring high-quality output and minimal machine downtime.
- Machine Setup and Operation: Assist in setting up and operating CNC machines, including loading tools, fixtures, and raw materials, and ensuring machines run at optimal efficiency.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate programs and ensure parts meet the required tolerances.
- Quality Assurance: Perform in-process inspections and collaborate with quality control teams to ensure parts are within specified tolerances and meet the high standards required by the DoD.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, R&D teams, and production staff to optimize manufacturability, solve technical challenges, and ensure seamless integration of components into the ASV systems.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes, recommend improvements, and implement best practices to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate records of programs, revisions, and machine setups. Ensure all work adheres to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and DoD specifications.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all manufacturing activities comply with OSHA, ISO, and military standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC programming, preferably in a high-precision manufacturing environment (aerospace, defense, or similar industries).
- Experience working with CNC mills, lathes, routers, and other precision machines.
- Familiarity with autonomous systems, maritime technology, or defense industry standards is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, and other CNC programming languages.
- Knowledge of machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, EDM, etc.) and tooling.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with CNC machines, programs, and tooling.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documentation.
