Description
SUMMARY: The CNC Programmer is responsible for programming CNC machines based on provided CAD data. The CNC Programmer optimizes toolpaths and cutting speeds to efficiently utilize available machine capacity. Problem solving and manufacturing optimization skills are keys to success in this position. Must be the site leader in living and driving the Company Core Values and High-Performance Work Culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follow company safety policies and surveil the machine shop for compliance on a regular basis.
• Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements, including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs
• Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws
• Operate various metrology instruments to ensure that parts completed in the machine shop meet the requirements of the drawing.
• Programs all CNC equipment as well as CMM inspection equipment.
• Ensures that tooling and machinery are operated at the maximum reasonable performance to reduce cycle time to the extent possible.
• Optimizes setup and fixturing plans to enable efficient processing of work through each work center.
• Troubleshoots problems with G-Code, fixturing or other machine specific issues.
• Responsible for the development of process plans for work orders as they are entered. Defines the machining operations required and provides machinists with a planned workflow with everything needed to complete the work order.
• Develops plans to complete work orders in coordination with the Machine Shop Coordinator to understand work order priorities.
• Stay up to date on current machining technology
• Maintains ability to coordinate the machine shop as a backup to the Machine Shop Coordinator
• All other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and comprehend technical instructions, drawings, and manuals. Ability to read and write short correspondence and memos in English. Have the ability to analyze technical procedures. This position also requires the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABLILITY: Ability to define problems collecting data to establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl; and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heat, electrical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
