General Description:
The CNC Programmer creates CNC programs and machining instructions. This work often includes reviewing three-dimensional computer-aided/automated design (CAD) models and blueprints, determine cutting tools and machining strategies, and other calculations. The programmer then creates CNC programs utilizing computer aided/automated manufacturing (CAM) software. The programmer and/or the operator of the machine check the program through first piece run off and first piece inspection approval.

Responsibilities:
- Create setup sheets with tooling and work-holding details.
- Create programs for CNC milling and turning centers.
- Utilize drawings and CAD models to support program development.
- Utilize GibbCAM software to produce programs.
- Support process optimization and machine utilization with updates as necessary.
- Provide input on process decisions and strategies.
- Experience performing full set-ups, program edits, and holding tolerances as tight as +/- .0001"
- Complete understanding of machine control management, including mastering of all machine code terminology, usage, along with macro programming usage.
- Awareness of cutting tool technology, to support application optimization.
- Complete understanding and awareness of inspection measurement tools
- Complete understanding of work-holding strategies and usage
- Ability to communicate application status both to department team to shop level associates, in terms of application status, issues, and requirements.
- Trouble-shooting skills and ability to think critically.
- Ability to read blueprints and update paperwork neatly, accurately, and in an organized manner.
- Work within company policy as outlined in the Faxon Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager as needed.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- 5 years manufacturing/engineering
- 5 years CAD/CAM
