JOB SUMMARY:
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set up and manage CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, grinding, and milling.
• Plans machining by translating engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production parameters.
• Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine the amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders.
• Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
• Sets up mills and lathes.
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Meet and exceed objectives set by the manager.
• Provide complete and accurate documents, records, and files in both electronic and paper form.
• Provide a professional and positive image to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries, and other interactions.

Education:
• High-school diploma or equivalent
Experience and/or Training:
• Certificate or diploma in engineering is an advantage.
• 3 years experience as a CNC machine operator.
• Ability to translate mechanical documents and engineering drawings.
• Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions and short correspondence with great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
• Disciplined, dependable and resourceful.
• Strong time management, customer service, and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess a positive and professional attitude.
