Description

While a job description may not fully encompass every detail of a position, the purpose of the following is to provide an outline of goals, responsibilities, abilities, and knowledge required to successfully perform this job. All Exploring companies are customer service driven, and staff must embrace this attitude.

We are looking for a competent CNC operator to use computer numerically controlled machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. Your job is important since some materials are not easy to shape or handle manually or with conventional equipment. This position requires flexibility in the work schedule, including availability for weekend and evening shifts as needed.

GOAL:
The goal is to produce high-quality parts and materials by programming machines to perform the right operations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES - MUST BE ABLE TO:
  • Understand CAD
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Possess knowledge of CNC equipment
  • Understand materials
  • Know bits/spindles/cut direction
  • Read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Be computer savvy with a basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
  • Communicate clearly and professionally
  • Work flexible hours under pressure and deadlines, including weekends and evenings
  • Manage several projects at one time and prioritize as needed

Position Requirements

CNC OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare and operate CNC machines, including Multicam to perform tasks such as drilling.
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate a large number of parts.
  • Supervise the machines while they execute tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce better results.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
    • If parts are not adequate, clean up parts that are not fully cut through the material.
  • Manage time properly to ensure parts are continuously cycled through the machines.
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality, including dust collectors, vacuums, air compressors, and forklifts.
  • TEAMWORK AND CUSTOMER FOCUS:
    It is essential that employees work together as a team. While creativity is expected, the customer's vision is always most important. This department requires adherence to scheduled start times and often requires weekend and evening work.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Walking, standing for long periods, bending, stooping, reaching at shoulder level and above, lifting, and pushing/pulling of materials.
  • Repetitive movements with fingers, hands, and arms are often required.
  • The physical environment is not climate controlled.
  • Frequently required to use PPE to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and ear protection for loud noise.
