Acquires basic skills to perform routine entry level operator tasks to operate
Work is prescribed and completed with little autonomy

Level 2
Demonstrates 2-5 years of experience in position or specialization
All Level 1 specialized training in addition to:
Works within established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision
Identifies the problem and all relevant issues in straightforward situations, assesses each using standard procedures, and makes sound decisions.
Must be capable of running the majority of jobs in the department.
Level 3
Demonstrates 5 or more years of experience in position or specialization
All level 1 and 2 specialized training in addition to:
Completes work with a limited degree of supervision
Likely to act as an informal resource for training new department operators.
Must be capable of running all jobs in the department.

Department: Machine Shop
Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Setup and operate all CNC machining centers.
- Observes machine operation and measures parts in accordance with instructions using defined inspection media.
- Write and optimize CNC programs to create complex parts on multi axis machining centers.
- Prepares and operates CNC Lathes and CNC Mills under minimal supervision, performs simple to complex setups, changes tools (inserts, drills, mills, etc.), and performs programming edits and verifies changes through inspection methods.
- Generates CNC programs by utilization of available CAM programming software, thorough knowledge of cutting feeds and speeds, and tool composition/application knowledge.
- Develop work holding solutions and select cutting tools.
- Develops, prepares, optimized, and maintains related Set-up and operation documents.
- Adjust tools and machine settings under minimal supervision to obtain specified results.
- Verifies conformance of production parts to specifications using various measuring instruments.
- Performs maintenance on the machines as required.
- Integrate work with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling Departments to ensure a smooth flow of quality products through the facility.
- Audit product quality and monitor operator quality check sheets to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Perform work in all areas of shop as designated by supervision on an as needed basis.
- Stops machine operation and notifies supervisor when the parts do not conform to specifications and performs necessary programming edits or tool changes to correct problem.
- Be responsive to process and equipment deficiencies to maintain scrap levels below standard.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in all production areas (5 S's).
- Provide ongoing training for production employees.
- Works effectively with little supervision.
Education and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or GED; or minimum of three years' experience in a metal shop using similar equipment. 0-2 years of demonstrated experience for Level 1 CNC, 2-5 years of demonstrated experience for Level 2 CNC, 5 or more years of demonstrated experience for Level 3 CNC.
- Aerospace experience is preferred.
- Experience writing CNC programs in a machining environment.
- Demonstrates proficiency with CAD and CAM software preferred.
- Ability to program using MasterCAM Software.
- Experience with measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and blueprints in English is required.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

- Manual dexterity to handle small delicate parts and hand held standard measuring equipment at the same time.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to drive and operate a Forklift.
