Set-up and adjust, align various milling machines, drill presses, Assembly Machines and punch presses. Distribute work to machine operators, train and follow up on new employees. Operate machines at the direction of supervision.
- Set-up machines as required to Klein blueprint specifications and tolerances.
- Operate machines after set-up for test pieces, gauge pieces to verify they are within tolerance and/or Klein specifications.
- Strip and clean machines at end of run. Deliver drills and tooling to tool crib, return clean fixture, fixture components and gauges to tool crib or storage area.
- Distribute work to machine operators according to job priorities established by department supervision.
- Check operating machines periodically to insure machines are being run efficiently at the correct speeds and feeds, surface finish and dimensions.
- Assists in training new operators and follow-up on their performance to insure application of correct methods of operation.
- Advise supervision of the supply of cutting tools, coolants, oils, and lubricants in need of reordering. In form supervision of machines, tooling and fixtures in need of repair.
- Keep track of work orders so as not to over run or under run order quantities.
- At request of quality control, adjust machines at all times and change cutters as required.
- Operate machines at the direction of supervision.
- Consult process sheets as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines per schedule.
- Make necessary machine repairs as required.
- Maintains clean work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Basic math and English Skills.
- Ability to read micrometers, scales, vernier calipers, comparater and able to read and interpret other measuring devices.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must have good mechanical aptitude and abilities.
