SCPOWERHOUSE is hiring for: Machinist

Summary: Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Fabricates, modifies, or repairs mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines. Key Job

Responsibilities:
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Work in the repair, installation, adjustment or maintenance of industrial production and processing machinery or refinery and pipeline distribution systems.
• Set controls to regulate the machining process.
• Position and fasten work pieces.
• Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining processes.
• Maintain industrial machines; apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
• Position, secure, and align cutting tools in tool holders for machines, using hand tools and verifying their positions with measuring instruments.
• Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment. Align and secure holding fixtures onto machines.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
• Lift metal stock and work pieces manually or using hoists; position and secure them in machines using fasteners.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Drive forklifts safely to maneuver parts or equipment as needed.
• Operate overhead and jib cranes safely to maneuver parts or equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Associate degree from a 2-year college in a Mechanical field is preferred but not required. High school diploma or equivalent with four to six years related experience and/or training. Required Experience: Solid knowledge and use of precision measuring tools, Materials and Safety, Job Planning, Rotating Equipment Mechanical Experience with disassembling and reassembling complex assemblies as the project lead, understand equipment operational requirements, training in crane and rigging and heavy lift procedures.

Desired Experience:
• Able to set up program and run conversational CNC machinery.
• Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Experience with portable machine tools (e.g., mag base drills, boring bars, etc.).

Other skills:
• Fluency in Business English.
• SAP or other ERP system, other foreign languages.

Physical Requirements:

Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Adjusting or moving objects up to twenty pounds in all directions. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Assessing the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned. Exposure to low and elevated temperatures. Noisy environments and hazardous conditions. Medium work that includes moving objects up to fifty pounds.
