Overview: As the CNC Machinist Trainer for Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be responsible for publicly advocating the machine training program, assisting in the selection of candidates, supporting and executing the training, and tracking the progress of all those selected over an 18-24 month program to completion to Merrill's highest level standard of excellence. Under the direction of plant and organizational leadership, you will be tasked with guiding and mentoring trainees through the program, with the final goal of permanent employment as a skilled machinist with Merrill: A Keel Company.
Specific Duties:

Specific Duties:
- In partnership with plant leadership and Human Resources, you will create, improve, and execute feasible work plans within overall training strategies and objectives, utilizing an 18-24 month timeline and within budgetary and resource considerations.
- Will assist in designing and developing training materials, define, scope, and manage the program and tasks required, and conduct the training across various machines for trainees.
- Will track and update cross training matrices in tandem with plant leadership and HR, as well as completing new employee checklists as mentor and first line support, including helping them to understand key KPIs.
- Lead the continued growth and implementation of internal machinist career development strategies throughout the organization.
- Attend external events such as career fairs and school and technical center presentations.
- Assist in organizing and executing tours and field trips to Merrill facilities to generate interest in the training program specifically and the organization as a whole.
- In partnership with technical recruiting, identify and select candidates whose value and potential are in line with corporate training and education strategies.
- Assist with and advance process-focused solutions, and advance continuous improvement thereof, to positively impact overall operating costs, labor costs, and product quality, working across various departments such as Engineering or APEX to achieve this.
- Will be assigned other CNC machinist duties as required depending on current needs.
- High school diploma/GED required, Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have 10 years of industrial and manufacturing experience in machining.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, team building, and leadership skills are a necessity.
- Must possess a passion for training and development, and the ability to teach people across a spectrum of different skill and personality profiles
- Must be able to effectively communicate and relay information to a variety of audiences.
- Ideal candidates will be patient, with the ability to lead, inspire, and adapt to change.
- Must display expert level understand of manufacturing and machining.
