Assist with the setup and operation of manual and CNC equipment alongside and under the direction of the Lead Machinist in an in-house machine shop. Learn how to produce parts for final assembly of tabletop packaging systems. No experience required; we will train.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands
This job operates in a Manufacturing and production/assembly environment. This role uses shop equipment, power tools and hand tools. Regularly life up to 25 lbs; sometimes lift to up 75 lbs. Operate machinery (CNC, manual, drill press, band saw, grinder, tool grinder); manual dexterity; exposed to dust, fumes, gases, chemicals.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Job Responsibilities
The Machinist/CNC Operator will learn how to:
- Set up manual and CNC milling/lathe machines and run parts as needed.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, CNC programs, and work instructions to ensure proper setup requirements, sequence operations, dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
- Inspect work and perform quality checks to ensure conformance to engineering drawings.
- Perform hand finishing including deburring, chamfering, sanding, etc. both manually and/or with pneumatic/electric tools as required.
- Maintain established safety practices and cleanliness of the machining area.
- Maintain quality tooling by sharpening and replacing worn tools.
