Job Description

NOV currently has job openings for CNC Machinist (day shift) based out of our south Edmonton manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be required to use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut, drill, shape and finish products and components used in engineering and manufacturing. This position provides opportunity to learn new skills, and programming with room for advancement. Full knowledge of machining applications, tooling criteria and process documentation is required. Proficient in G-Code and Mazatrol Programing is considered an asset.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Read measurement tools, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Set up and operate CNC machines to maximize the use of materials and equipment
  • Perform precise measuring to ensure components are machined to the specific tolerances and surface finishes
  • Operate and handle materials and tools in a safe manner
  • Report any environmental and health & safety issues that arise
  • Ensure that the work area is kept clean and appropriate safety equipment is worn at all times
  • Assist with the training of other employees
  • Perform Preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • 4+ years' experience with setup and operation of CNC Lathes and/or Mills;
  • Trade certification considered an asset, but not required;
  • Overhead Crane and Forklift Certificates required
  • Weingartner experience considered an asset
  • Leistritz experience considered an asset

HSE Requirements (Training and Physical Requirements):
  • Participate in near miss / incident reporting;

  • Able to work in manufacturing environment (walking, standing, noise);
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs unassisted.
