CNC Machinist Lathes
Summary: Responsible to act in accordance with the policies set forth in the current procedures and manuals. Performing typical manual machining of production parts
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; others may be assigned:
• Improve work methods and tooling
• Report any safety problems to management
• Follow all environmental, health and safety policies
• Keep work area clean and orderly
• Manage ones own time efficiently
• Evaluate self work to ensure compliance with work instructions and standards
• Perform CNC machining of production parts
• Use SL-20, SL-30, and ST30 lathes
• Using hand tools, drills, calipers, heat guns, Drimel tool, die grinders, protractors, micrometers, height gages, bench center, dial indicators, blind rivet guns, torque wrenches, flare tool, nutsert installation tools and bore gauges/bore rings
• Use work orders, drawings and/or schematics to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, dimensions and tolerances
• Set up, operate and tend machines
• Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media for problems encountered during operation
• Measure and examine completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications using Numerex CMM, Optical Comparator, Brown & Sharpe CMM and Precitech
• Load work pieces into machines manually or with hoists and cranes
• Start machines, monitor operations and record operational data
• Test and adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications
• Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
• Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems
• Perform weekly checklist
• Clock in and out of bar codes to begin and complete work orders
• Read and answer email daily
• Basic Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Wearing the proper safety equipment

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); related experience and/or training.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The ability to read, and interpret English documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and reports, drawings and schematics Ability to write and/or type routine correspondence or reports. The ability to perform simple shop math including use of decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure. The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted Apply knowledge of mechanics, metal properties and machining .
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things; reach with hands and arms; the ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm; the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects; talk, hear the ability to detect or tell the difference between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness, and see. Must be compliant with FAA Manual vision test and color blindness test.
The employee is regularly required to stand, and/or walk, and occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift, move, push, and/or carry up to 50lbs, and occasionally lift, move, push, and/or carry up to 100lbs with assistance of second party. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust and focus.
