Contract: 3 month contract, full time
Reporting to: Program Director and Manufacturing Supervisor
Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy are looking for an experienced Machinist. You will play a pivotal role in safely and reliably developing the manufacturing capability of our high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet program.
You will work closely with Engineers, Physicists, and Senior Leadership Team to develop and perform manufacturing processes and procedures.
You will operate and maintain the CNC machinery and other the systems required to build and test HTS magnet systems. This will include cryogenics, CNC machines, machine tools, soldering and braising, vacuum, welding, and other specialized equipment. This position requires strong human performance skills, attention to detail, and safety as the top priority.

- Set up and operate a 5axis CNC machine to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
- Work closely with our Manufacturing Supervisor and a team of Engineers, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Provide guidance on technical and safety issues and offer training to improve team members' skills.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect any machine malfunctions or defects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand, develop, and fulfil requirements.
- Monitor and address any safety or quality issues.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, such as travellers.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions
What you'll need:
- Proven experience in manufacturing, with a focus on safety, quality, and reliability.
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of CNC machines (5 axis preferred), machine tools, high energy systems, etc. Ability to run a CNC machine unsupervised.
- Experience in participating in or conducting safety reviews and investigations.
- Experience writing and reviewing manufacturing checklists and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to manufacturing activities including Occupational Safety and Health standards.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Perform activities such as stooping, typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
