Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Develops and programs machine plan using parts drawing and sets-up, operates, and maintains numerically controlled machinery to machine a wide variety of metal and non-metal parts according to print specifications to meet plant and production standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Analyzes part drawing, sketches, design data, blueprints, and production orders.

2. Determines the part program using the part process sheet.

3. Manually enters process sheet program.

4. Revises and makes program corrections as required.

5. Documents tape process sheets, tooling and tooling location, sets up instruction sheets, parts program tape files, etc.

6. Mounts workpiece, selects and installs tooling in sequence.

7. Sets-up and adjusts machine operation and tooling.

8. Starts machining operation observing numerical displays on control panel.

9. Over-rides controls to correct machine performance.

10. Retrieves parts.

11. Verifies conformance of parts to print specifications.

12. Insures adequate coolant flow and detects and remedies malfunctions when possible.

13. Keeps production records.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.

2. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe practice rules.

3. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.

Requirements

Education: One and one-half years commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school.

Experience: Three to four years related work experience.

Ability to read and program in various formats (M, G, Mazatrol, etc)
