Working Hours and/or Working Conditions: The position may require standing for extended periods and working with machinery in a workshop environment. Occasional lifting of materials and equipment may be necessary. Adherence to all safety guidelines and protocols is mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in CNC machine operation, programming (e.g., G-code), and maintenance. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g.,Fusion, Mastercam, SolidWorks). Familiarity with various CNC machines and controls (e.g.,Haas, FANUC, Siemens).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Patience and the ability to motivate and inspire students. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Supervision: SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Assistant Director - Special Projects for WCE EAT. SUPERVISION GIVEN: Provide direction to CNC Lab Aide and support staff. May direct part-time staff as assigned.
Job Function
The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Instructor - Special Projects will be responsible for providing high-quality training and instruction to students in the operation, programming, and maintenance of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. This role requires a deep understanding of CNC machinery, excellent teaching abilities, and the capacity to inspire and guide students towards achieving technical proficiency.
Job Responsibilities
Education
Associate's degree in the field plus 4 years' experience OR
Certificate in the field from postsecondary institutions plus 6 years' experience OR
No postsecondary education (HS or GED required) with 8 years' experience or more.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining and programming. Previous teaching or training experience is preferred

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive CNC machining curriculum and training programs.
- Teach students to operate, program, and maintain CNC machines including lathes, mills, and routers.
- Provide hands-on training and practical demonstrations on CNC equipment.
- Ensure students understand safety protocols and industry standards.
- Create and update course materials, lesson plans, and instructional guides.
- Stay current with industry advancements and incorporate new technologies and methods into the curriculum.
- Design and implement assessments to evaluate student progress and proficiency.
- Mentor and guide students, providing individual assistance to support their learning and development.
- Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adjust teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Ensure all CNC equipment and tools are properly maintained and in safe working condition.
- Manage the CNC lab or workshop, including inventory control and ordering of supplies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, industry partners, and other stakeholders to enhance training programs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about industry trends and advancements.
