To support their continued growth here in the USA, we have been called to assist them in identifying a CNC Development and Controls Engineer.

Job title: CNC Development and Controls Engineer

Mission: TheInnovation Department encompasses software engineering and R&D. As part ofthis department, you can expect to be challenged, think critically, and solveproblems in new ways. We provide machine tools with the capabilities neededto compete in an increasingly technology-heavy market while maintaining safeworking conditions for our customers and in-house staff. This multi-faceted role will be to build and develop methods to support a new controller platform and HMI components based on modern web technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile initial software builds for machine startups. (Includes PLC scripts, OEM macros, initial parameter settings, etc.)
  • Work with the Innovation team and other engineering departments to ensure all builds have complete and accurate initial software builds ahead of machine turn on.
  • Contribute improvements to current logic library to achieve greater safety, more intelligent design, increased user experience, and/or improved machine performance.
  • Technical writing: produce procedural documentation for customers (internal and external) and technical notes on department developments and progress.
  • Troubleshoot live machine systems to help identify and resolve build errors.
  • Work with internal and external customers (Finishing dept., Service dept., and clients) to ensure projects achieve scope, function, and overall vision.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new software or hardware features to better position DMS competitively in the CNC market.
  • Test, develop, and provide feedback on new technologies for products.
  • Design and integrate an overall interface environment with the CNC controller that will be responsible for the operation and control of CNC machinery, serving as the primary interface of their products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor's Degreein Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Software), Mechatronics or related,or equivalent experience working with CNC tools and/or automation equipment.
    • PLC programming experience, specifically with Fanuc controller.
    • 2+ years of professional experience with HTML5, C#, JavaScript, and CSS.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
    • Strong electro-mechanical systems aptitude.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must have the ability to learn and configure software systems for later resale to customers and/or integration with CNC machines.
    • Experience with CAD software is a plus.
    • Must have genuine customer service skills.
    • Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.
    • Must be willing to travel to customer locations and deploy software systems.
    • Must be willing to work in areas with high levels of noise such as factories.
    • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Travel may be required, up to 10% of the year.
