SUMMARY

The Press Brake Operator will use a press brake to bend, shape, cut, and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Operate a press brake to manufacture products from sheet metal or metal plates.
  • Prepare, set up, and adjust press brake as required by product plans and productions schedules.
  • Ensure that there are sufficient raw materials available.
  • Measure and align materials to be used.
  • Inspect products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.

SKILLLS/ABILITIES
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow product plans.
  • Basic computer and math skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred.

REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physically able to operate the press brake.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
