Position Summary:

Systematic Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a skilled Bridgeport Acer Machinist with hands-on experience using Acu-Rite conversational controllers. This role is ideal for a self-directed machinist who excels in precision manual machining and thrives in a fast-paced, mill-spec manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of blueprint reading, tolerance interpretation, and tool selection, as well as the ability to support team-based machining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate Bridgeport-style Acer manual mills using Acu-Rite conversational controls.
  • Produce tight-tolerance components to customer and mil-spec requirements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
  • Select, install, and adjust tools and fixtures appropriately.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and optical comparators.
  • Troubleshoot dimensional and surface finish issues independently.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and 7S-compliant work environment.
  • Accurately record job travelers, inspection data, and in-process documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years manual machining experience, specifically with Bridgeport or Acer mills.
  • Strong experience with Acu-Rite DRO or Acu-Rite MILLPWR G2 conversational control systems.
  • Deep understanding of manual machining practices, including feeds/speeds and tool wear.
  • Ability to interpret military and customer specifications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with precision measuring instruments and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and quality-driven.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and able to follow SMI shop policies and safety protocols.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in military, aerospace, or defense industry machining.
  • Experience with manual lathes or secondary operations a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards.
