Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced 5-Axis Machinist with a strong background in precision machining for the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in setting up, operating, and programming 5-axis CNC machines to produce complex components with extremely tight tolerances, often as low as +/- 0.0001". This position plays a critical role in manufacturing parts that meet strict quality and safety standards for aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-precision aerospace components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure proper machining processes and specifications are followed.
  • Perform detailed inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, CMMs) to verify that parts meet strict tolerance and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust machine settings to address any issues with dimensions or surface finishes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality control, and production teams to ensure that manufacturing processes are optimized for quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain machine tools by performing preventive maintenance and making minor repairs as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience operating and programming 5-axis CNC machines in an aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of tight tolerance machining (+/- 0.0001") and complex geometries.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs.
  • Familiarity with various aerospace materials, including aluminum, titanium, and Inconel.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an AS9100 or ISO 9001-certified environment.
  • Experience machining complex aerospace components such as turbine blades, housings, or structural components.
