ITD - CNC Machinist Job Overview: CNC Machinists are skilled in setup, programming, and operation of CNC machine tools and the development of fixture placement and tooling processes. They possess the skills of a setup technician operation and programmer. They may specialize in the use of any type or multiple types of CNC machine tools. They will study printing, selection of material, establish plans for machining operations, understand machine programming languages, and have skill using computer aided manufacturing software. This position requires an individual to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and samples to accurately machine parts to customer specifications. Some light duty lifting required and using a hoist to install vises, jigs, fixtures, and heavy work pieces onto the mill or lathe for machining. Use precision measuring equipment with both hands to accurately machine parts. Operating the controls of the mill or lathe with both hands to remove material from parts in conjunction with the specs and accuracy required for specific job. The Machinist I position will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The role may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The Machinist I will check quality of work against blueprints and specifications. This is a 1st shift position located in Farmington, MI. Responsibilities: <ul><li>Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts.</li><li>Review electronic or written blueprints for specifications and check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.</li><li>Calculate where to cut or bore.</li><li>Shape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon and other materials.</li><li>Determine how fast or slow workpiece is fed into machine and how much material to remove.</li><li>Select tools and materials for the job. Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.</li><li>Mark the workpiece to show where cuts should be made. Position workpiece on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine.</li><li>Monitor and control feed rate and speed.</li><li>Ensure work-piece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.</li><li>Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations.</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications: <ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>Minimum of 1 year of machining experience.</li><li>Ability to operate lathes, mills, and grinders.</li><li>Ability to machine complex, tight tolerance parts.</li><li>Must be able to effectively thread on the lathe.</li><li>Must be able to read Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&amp;T) symbols and interpret blueprints.</li><li>Possess excellent shop math skills and own tools.</li><li>Must be able to complete quality inspections on work product.</li><li>Must be ready and willing to complete all tasks assigned and work overtime and weekends as needed. IPS - RMB Products is seeking a CNC Machine Operator who is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate non-metallic part. The CNC Programmer and Operator uses Mastercam and/or Mastercam for SolidWorks. This position does require overtime.
