CNC Machinist DESCRIPTION: The CNC Grinding Machinist will perform accurate and timely set-ups utilizing OD, ID, Profile, and Surface Grinders. Proficient in accurate change-over of machine set-ups. Ensure conformance to customer requirements using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection. Record and comprehend company work instructions and set-up books. CNC Machinist ESSENTIAL DUTIES: <ul><li>Setup and operate CNC grinders for production operations.</li><li>Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as needed.</li><li>Responsible for DNC communications, downloading tool programs.</li><li>Inspect and measure parts according to set-up book inspection callouts.</li><li>Monitor and recondition/dress grinding wheels in accordance with tool life management system, document all changes.</li><li>Ensure company procedures and "best machining practices" are being followed.</li><li>Perform additional related duties as assigned.</li><li>Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.</li></ul> CNC Machinist EDEUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: <ul><li>Minimum 5 years CNC Grinding experience in a manufacturing environment. </li><li>Experience utilizing Superabrasives and rotary dressing diamonds.</li><li>Demonstrated ability at operating CNC Machines.</li><li>Accurately adjusting machine work offsets.</li><li>Ability to set-up jobs independently.</li><li>Ability to read part drawings, apply GD&amp;T concepts and rules to understand geometric requirements.</li><li>Ability to correctly use and interpret measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, thread gages, chamfer gages, pin gage, test indicators, drop indicators, height gages, optical comparators.</li><li>Implement 6S concepts.</li><li>Basic computer skills: Excel, Word, Outlook.</li><li>Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing preferred.</li><li>Visual inspection experience preferred.</li><li>Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li></ul>CNC Machinist PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB: <ul><li>Standing for long periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, use hands to finger, handle, or feel parts; reaching with hands and arms and overhead; talking and/or hearing instructions and sounds.</li><li>Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.</li><li>Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.</li><li>Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify coating defects.</li><li>Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading dial and digital gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of coating operations.</li></ul>CNC Machinist WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB: <ul><li>Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.</li></ul><ul><li>Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.</li><li>High noise levels from operating machines.</li><li>Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.</li><li>The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment.</li></ul>
